Rare opportunity to acquire this corner, stately town house in a very prestigious residential area. This property enjoys a large frontage and is in a very good habitable state with most of the rooms having the original flag stone flooring. One enters a wide hallway with beautiful frescoes and a trompe l'oeil that leads onto an exquisitely built and designed staircase. At ground floor one finds two living rooms with original complete inbuilt fireplaces, kitchen/breakfast room, study, a large well proportioned dining room and a shower room. Adjoining the house is a lovely old garden with a 70,000 gallon well and a garage and car port. There are also rooms in the garden that could become a small granny-flat. Underlying the house is a lovely old, well ventilated, arched basement with 6 rooms and a war shelter. Upstairs off the main landing is a beautiful grand living room (sala nobile), 4 independent bedrooms, a bathroom and a showroom. This property is Freehold and must be seen to be truly appreciated.

Location

Lija is a small village forming part of the Three villages of Malta, along with Attard and Balzan. Lija has a baroque parish church and seven other small chapels. The village is mostly known for its fireworks displays that attract thousands of locals and tourists during the festa period held in the first week of August. These displays are very well renowned and claimed to be the best around the island. Lija also hosts the Maltese Citrus festival, held each year. Lija has several old houses of character, large citrus gardens, a unique Belveder tower and Villa Francia. Lija has a character of narrow winding streets most of which only allow passage of cars in one direction. Lija’s urban conservation area will ensure that development within this area, or development which affects the views into or out of this area, will have to fit in and improve upon the existing character. Any building works undertaken have to retain the high standard of design, retaining features of historical and traditional importance, such as carved stone, timber balconies and iron railings.
